deplorable tragic wretched, you get the idea
Pros
Resume filler, some nice people working there
Cons
Too many to list, but essentially it seems that no one really got how bad and toxic the place was to work at. Having worked at great companies before and after it made me think that the only reason one would stay there was because they didn't know any better, or believed that this was the best they could do, or didn't know how to move on, or something. I scanned the room when I worked there, at both Box Hill and the Mill Park sites and thought this place is a very strange place to be. People talking on headsets into screens in front of them, without the ability to take time between calls when virtually the only time you get alerted is when a team leader is micro managing you about something so small that your brain has trouble connecting the dots that their mouth is moving in front of you and noises are coming out. It's absurd meaningless data that companies like this bid for tenders for government tenders then pay staff virtually nothing and worry about getting fines if the quality is not at certain levels which mean team leaders run round like compliance officers pulling people into line for the weakest of reasons. It is both soul less yet soul destroying. And you buy into it so you as a worker start to feel like you are walking on egg shells until the next time you have to speak to a team leader that's pulling you up for some lame reason. And they genuinely don't care if you stay or leave, they have no loyalty towards staff, and they break teams up purposely, I had 6 team leaders in 15 months, and was in 8 teams in that time that I can remember, and hot desking, which is just another way to dehumanise people. I could write a thesis of information of working for Serco it still wouldn't be enough. I'm done, I worked there, I got therapy, I now work for an awesome company, I hope that Serco is not too much for people that work there like it was for me and I hope if you do work there and it is hard that you leave, you are better than this company, you do deserve better in life, and that you do not deserve to be treated like this by anyone. Wow, I really carried a lot of weight working at this company. I feel like I'm one of the lucky ones I got out and life is better. Thanks Serco
