Pros

Shipit. Nightmare for the operations staff but it’s a great environment to learn from other team mates and share ideas. Nice offices. Nice, central office locations with plenty of snacks and catered lunches.

Cons

SafetyCulture give the appearance of being a startup with a product that ‘saves lives’ while providing a fun and inclusive environment. This certainly isn’t the case. The product, while quite good, is all about gathering metrics and data from frontline workers. The saving lives statement is overplayed and not the case at all. Open, honest, always is one of SafetyCultures values, what’s interesting is most employees adhere to this and are great to work with. Senior Leadership on the other hand are the complete opposite, changes are poorly communicated and happen erratically. The senior leadership team are very political. You are either in the good books with the SLT or you will be disposed of. Unfortunately due to this, the culture over the past few months has become cut throat and toxic as people fight to keep their roles or stay relevant. The CEO is toxic, egotistical and bullies staff. It’s well known around the company, that the CEO bullies staff. Other employees refer to the victims as ‘the flavour of the month’. Glassdoor reviews are manipulated. When a negative review has been created, the people team have staff complete positive reviews to bury the negative comments. An example of this can be seen on the glassdoor trends for SafetyCulture, ratings went from 2 stars to over 4 stars within days.

Pros

They advertise a lot of perks. Free food, nice office space, however these perks don’t mean much if they don’t treat their employees well. The ratings were pretty low on glassdoor. After removing all the negative reviews and some senior leaders themselves writing these overly positive reviews since hiring is a problem currently. So I wouldn’t believe these reviews but talk to people in the company to know the actual situation. There are much better companies imho. The culture was great 3 years back, sadly it isn’t what it used to be. It is pretty toxic.

Cons

The pay isn’t as per market, well below the market. Most of engineering has left the company due to this being a major factor. They are trying to fix the problem now but it still isn’t worth it. When you join here you are made to feel like the culture is great and there is no hierarchy, this is not the case. Few big egos make all the decisions and you want to stick around and not get fired, you have to accept this and stay quiet. People to speak are seen as trouble makers. These overly positive reviews on glassdoor feel like a joke. They have no flexible work environment. Micromanaging is the norm at all the levels. In fact even if you take a coffee break, you are questioned. They do not support WFH. Career progression is non-existent. Management has no direction, they always try to be overly excited about stupid features that make no impact and you have to fake giving into the excitement or else you are not “motivated”or “engaged”. They start projects and change the course of the roadmap in no time. One of the reviews says people aren’t looking for jobs..the truth is almost 25 engineers have resigned since a last couple of months. New hires are sold the dream, and they are also the ones writing all these great reviews. Some people are unfairly put on performance plans which has even caused health issues for few employees. But the management dosn’t care! I would not recommend this company to anyone

Pros

Free lunches and snacks Newest tech to get you set up for success Nice open offices Incredibly intelligent colleagues Diverse range of customers that enable you to learn quickly and get experience you wouldn't anywhere else.

Cons

When I first started at SafetyCulture, I would describe the culture as fun, open, driven and mission obsessed. However, over time these values have fallen by the wayside. Now I am not a disgruntled employee, nor did I leave on bad terms, however, I do feel I have the right to be honest about my experience at SafetyCulture, so others know what to expect. What I love the most about the company are the people I work with everyday, I can safely say we were all drawn to the same values that unpinned this company. However, poor hiring decisions, politics and lack of foresight by the senior leadership bled toxic poison into the organization. Sadly, strong misogynistic behavior was, and continues to be overlooked and the 'bro' culture is prevalent amongst many teams. Though some posts will say that these issues are fake, over dramatized or have been 'dealt with', I ask you to think to yourself "Who's perspective really matters?". That is not to say that all of my male co-workers are to blame. It is to say, that those that contribute to this culture either do so actively, by only taking the opinions of the other men in the room - not women, sharing information only with their male colleagues, calling women "emotional" when issues are brought up or saying inappropriate comments in the workplace. Others, do so passively, by not standing up for those that demonstrate this behavior, displaying unconscious bias and consciously reaping the rewards of simply being a man. I think it goes without saying, but these behaviors start from the very top of the business and trickle down to middle management and staff. Regardless, I have forged some of my most valued working relationships at SafetyCulture, with both males and females. However, I do express that every employee is responsible for ensuring that this behavior does not continue and to call out those that promote it. In addition, SafetyCulture continues to deliver empty promises to its staff. This may be in the form of promotions, pay rises, flexible working hours, internal transfers or experience trips. Lastly, portions of middle management are inexperienced and lack the people skills needed of great leaders. Unfortunately, no amount of leveling up or leadership workshops can teach integrity or empathy.
