"Focus on the possibility, not the impossible" Last month, we had the pleasure of hosting our STEM AccelerateHER Breakfast in Sydney; an exciting extension of STEMpower program and a key commitment from TPG Telecom to provide opportunities for high potential women in STEM. The seminar provoked conversation around confidence, taking charge of your career, and how to embrace your strengths. Our panel discussion, featuring Alison Bourke, Melanie Van DE Merwe, Mary Beth Hosking MBT and Liz Abrahams, was highly engaging, sharing unique yet familiar experiences that highlighted tackling imposter syndrome, and how to unveil our strengths in such a competitive industry. TPG Telecom is committed to the development of its employees; and the AccelerateHER program is designed to do just that! Empowering and supporting women in STEM, we aim to identify and effectively communicate each individuals unique value, providing them with research-based strategies and tools to propel their careers forward confidently. A huge thank you to the STEMpower team for putting on a fantastic event! Last week, we celebrated the launch of our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) with our employees at a special event hosted at TPG Telecom’s Barangaroo head office on Gadigal Land. Our Executive Sponsor for Reconciliation and RAP Working Group Lead were joined by Aunty Donna Ingram (Wiradjuri woman and Elder of Redfern Aboriginal Community) for a Welcome to Country, Peter Morris (General Manager Reconciliation Australia RAP Programs), and Rebecca Halliday (Dunghutti/Birpai woman, Principal and Co-Founder GIRA First Nations Advisory). Panellists discussed the state of Reconciliation in Australia and the importance of the RAP framework in championing change, including some of the work we will be taking over the next two years to meet our reconciliation commitments. The importance of building meaningful relationships with First Nations peoples and ensuring a First Nations voice at the forefront of our reconciliation journey was also a key topic of discussion. The conversation is building and our shared journey is underway. We look forward to continuing our reconciliation journey and making a meaningful difference for our people, customers and the wider society. At TPG Telecom, we’re committed to using our influence as a leading Australian telecommunications provider to ensure a more connected, sustainable, and inclusive future for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we operate, and our people, customers and community live, work and connect. Today, we are incredibly proud to announce the launch of our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (2024-2026) after receiving formal endorsement from Reconciliation Australia. The RAP has been developed in close consultation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and organisations, with our TPG Telecom RAP Working Group and Ngarra Network also playing an important role in ensuring we can deliver on our commitments. Our RAP will be formally launched at a special event hosted at TPG Telecom’s Barangaroo headquarters in late March. We look forward to continuing our reconciliation journey and making a meaningful difference for our people, customers and the wider society.
