Job security and flexibility, but low pay persists

Pros

- Job security - Plenty chance of overtime if needed or wanted - Easy 9-5 job once trained up. So if wanting a easy work life just for the monthly pay packet, this might be the place for you. - Flexible working hours - Can be part time or full time - usually stores open 7 days every week so can be split up throughout the week. You will know you will only have to work when store is open or close to around opening hours. - Management tends to keep off your back long as you do the basics - at least in my store.

Cons

- Barely over minimum pay for your age, this doesn't seem to ever improve with years on the job. Seems like a annual pay rise only because national minimum wage has increased so they have to give you it - evens out with inflation so doesn't ever feel like more pay (in one hand and out the other with usual monthly bills). - Minimal pay increase even if you get higher roles - so more responsibilty and stress for not much more pay. - Sometimes understaffed and it's felt across the full store even if it's not your department. - Customers and some staff/coworkers can sometimes be difficult to deal with. Best to keep to your own business, don't stick your nose out. If you're more 'thick skinned', you should be okay with this, if not, I know staff that have left over this.
