Pros

-market leading data backup product to sell to Salesforce customers -sales training & tools for AE’s -private health insurance reimbursed -milestone cash bonuses in contract during 6-month ramp up -opportunity for equity in the company

Cons

-Just over 12 months after Australian (ANZ) operations commenced, and with no strategy, no support, no marketing, ANZ is underperforming. So HQ purged the entire ANZ sales team. They got rid of everyone in sales (except managers!). Then hired a bunch of replacement sales reps only to purge them too, 6 months later. This place is a graveyard for sales reps. -You’re just a line item on a spreadsheet here. Meaning no one feels their job is safe. As such managers will absolutely throw reps under the bus to buy themselves some extra time on this sinking ship. -Massively over hired sales reps relative to the total addressable market. -Go-to-market strategy outside the USA is a blank sheet of paper. -Endless lip service about HQ's commitment to ANZ operations but they never spent a cent here. Unsurprisingly, 2 years after launching, ANZ operations are basically shut down. -Many reps were ex-Salesforce and well connected within the Salesforce ecosystem which should make selling into Salesforce customers a slam dunk, however, sales territories were created with zero forethought and a copy & paste quota from the US, resulting in capable & experienced sales reps being set up to fail from the start.

Pros

-market leading product for Salesforce customers -many OwnBackup fans amongst Salesforce Partner network -Salesforce AE’s have recommended OwnBackup to their customers over their own native solution, which is rudimentary (for now…) -get to build up your network of contacts across the Salesforce ecosystem -solution engineering team are exceptional -sales enablement is very good, perhaps industry leading -lots of sales tools intended to make life easier and a quality sales methodology

Cons

-total addressable market trumpeted during interview feels exaggerated -too many minimum size deals, even in larger companies -no marketing & partner network feels tapped out -new solutions released with key features left on roadmap -targets unrealistic -PIP’s are common -serpentine management -low morale with many departures recently

Pros

- The company has been doubling in revenue for the last 7 years - The product is SOLID. OwnBackup solutions for Salesforce are second to none - Plenty of opportunities to succeed in a sales role - Great company incentives including free meals and health insurance - Amazing team culture in the Australian Team - Company is big on events and will spend millions on sponsorship and marketing. - High pace role but really rewarding - Generous salary package

Cons

- Sales targets are ambitious and if you don’t retire your quota, you are out the next day. - Get ready to take calls at every hour of the day or the night. - Must work from office at least 3 days a week. Mandatory office presence can be 5 days a week for more junior positions. - Parental leave is only 8 weeks. - HQ is ruthless. No respect towards people, no second changes given. - After laying off 95% of the original sales team at the beginning of this year, they started a hiring frenzy to get a new team up and running. Despite everyone was ahead of their number, in November 2022 we were ALL made redundant out of the blue. No explanation given.
