Pros

Good training ay first three months

Cons

Bench people roughly for whole year. Promised for projects like 5 times and never received a response from the project manager, I even tried to contact them via phone, SMS, Email, and skype. They are just ignoring you. Due to this issue, the project manager has to put me on hold and I cannot look for other projects. I left the company because it ruining my career.

No good

Pros

1. A handful of individuals (other Architects) made a difference to my development which would have otherwise diminished with Infosys current Policy. The company loves its policies and making the simple complex. 2. The starting contract salary was good, however I made the mistake of converting to permanent when an opportunity was presented but never eventuated. 3. The rate card Infosys initially charged attracted the corporate and enterprise end of town, however the opportunities for strategic and senior roles were slim and usually went to an offshore resource seconded at an even lower rate card. 4. After leaving Infosys, it was refreshing to return to a standard salary (33% pay rise) There were plenty of jobs about, should have done this years ago.

Cons

1. Infosys looks good on paper, but in reality they do not adhere to the processes (usually only theoretical) that gain the accreditations such as CMMI. 2. They won't develop you - you will be on your own unless you are well networked with the purse, or can convince your client to train/develop you at their cost. They won't support you - I was relocated interstate to stop gap with my family. On a poorly managed account, they brought in a 457 visa holder and put me on the bench for a long time. Eventually offered me a redundancy which was not valid. They eventually relocated me back to Melbourne (with no change to pay). 4. 6% pay increase over the 7 years of service (from my starting packaged salary) - left most people who were in the same boat with a bad taste in their mouth, especially when the SLT would announce year on year growth, then give you %0-%1 increase. 5. I could not progress any further with the organisation - I was told by a DM that 'the panel' whatever that was, were no longer offering Principal roles, It was time to leave.

Avoid like the plague

Pros

Exposure to enterprise IT systems & major clients, some dedicated, polite and talented developers.

Cons

Too many to list - Developers are treated extremely poorly at this place. I've witnessed bullying from middle management, coercion to work weekends to the point that staff members cried because they just wanted to see their families for one weekend and were missing their children growing up. Some genuinely nasty characters have free reign and take full advantage of the tenuous position of 'on shoring' staff - hanging the threat of being sent home over their heads like the sword of damocles while demanding overtime. Depressing to witness, avoid. It's probably even illegal. Find somewhere more progressive.
