Pros

Great superannuation, sickness and leave benefits

Cons

This is very much an "Old Boys Club" where "Old Boys" means "Men wearing a Police Uniform". If you are not a uniformed officer, your are looked down on and treated like dirt. Very change-resistant environment, very top-heavy and filled with paper pusher roles, instead of people to do the work. Non-uniformed staff are consistently paid on lower levels than they are in any equivalent role in other Government Departments. Blatant bullying occurs and nothing is done to stop or solve it.

- Sense of community amoung workers of same level. - Help the general community. - High levels of satisfaction when solving crime. - Good pay for what you do, however you only make it because of shift allowances (night, afternoon, public holidays)

Cons

- Very clear that you are a number. - Poor managers get promoted. - High level managers make very poor decisions which affect safety of covert officers. - Portion of community hate you, large portion fear you so don't expect thanks for your work. - Large stress, no consistently with shifts. - Dealing with detectives that have no clue.
