Pros

High pay when hours not considered, Large high value projects, occasional social events

Cons

Zero formal training is a common occurance, company will butcher teams without regard for workload to feed other over budget and under staffed projects then hold the remaining people to the expectation they will continue with the same speed as when they had enough people, management has zero regard for work life balance, or their employees and will often change plans, tasks, and workloads often with little vertical communication to teams. Hours will be long with expected weekend for zero extra pay or benefits. During Coronavirus company did barest minimum to ensure social distancing treating the entire virus as more an inconvenience than a danger. On top of this there is little compensation for changes in the workplace that can result in being moved into a position with much higher and broader responsibility without the appropriate training or reflecting the heavily increased workload with any form of compensation for the increased stress.

Pros

- Big, interesting projects - Well respected (looks good on resume)

Cons

- CPB does not value their current employees at all and would rather hire unproven engineers externally than promote experienced engineers from within - They expect you to give up your life for them and in return give you the bare minimum you need to survive - Pay is average. The only way to get a pay rise or promotion is to hand in your resignation, then they will suddenly promise you the world again - They are very tight on money. Most of our equipment (computers, cars, site specific gear) is incredibly outdated and barely does the job. It's very difficult to get anyone to let you spend money on replacing anything, no matter how desperate you are - Very low morale on most projects leading to a high turnover rate
