Pros

Made some great friends. and had some good times.

Cons

I have been with Aussie for several years, but not sure I can stomach anymore of the bullsh_t … Its meant to be a company value of no bullsh_t, although the place is full of it. Any form of technical direction for the company has become a distant past. Aussie used to be ahead of the rest. Now everyone has surpassed. Charging a premium for services that are clearly the same or less as the competitors. I feel this downhill slide has come from the exec team who fail to drive the direction of the company in the right way. Systems/tech/engineering/development has had recent new “Chief Of” hires. Both do not seem to really know what they are doing. Both have frequented the school of “buzzword dropping” and “useless presentations” that have no actual meaning. The software development team used to be great before a new GM started. She was transferred in from a transformation role where no transformation was done. I believe others have coined the term “a favorite”. If only she spent her time leading the development team instead of riffling through other departments. Looking good / sucking up in front of the ELT is more important that actual work. Following the ELT around like a puppy dog, especially when it comes to travel, dinners or events. Its sickening. The systems/development team is being taken over from external vendors and consultants. If you are a team leader or want a great career, get out and run whilst you still have your sanity and dignity. The only growth is now the blame game.

Pros

Free internet, and the entry-level to middle management staff are great people, hard workers, and are humble. Plenty of career opportunity to move up the ranks because people keep leaving.

Cons

Where do I begin. The entire business is in shambles, On the outside they put themselves as being people & quality focus, but behind the curtain they are burning down. This all comes from the Exec level of the business. Business is in no way mature, staff are overworked, underpaid, and underappreciated. Unrealistic timelines are given to staff and they treat their staff terribly. This is all resulting in a sub-par product/projects being delivered both internal and external of the business. I have never worked somewhere which had specific exec's here treat their staff so poorly. If I were asked to explain how toxic this workplace is, I would equate it to a nuclear site gone wrong. You WILL be blamed for things that are not your fault, you WILL have others take credit for your achievements, you WILL be TOLD (not asked) to do things that aren't part of your job description, you WILL lose sleep, you WILL leave meetings feeling sick or crying. They don't listen to the professionals they hire, and will abuse and demean them. They think they want innovative thinkers but in practice they don't , they only want yes-men , which is ironic considering 2 of their core values are "Think big" and "be awesome, not ordinary" More than 1 person in the exec team is the problem, but the biggest problems definitely comes from a select few. without targeting any individuals I'll say this; If you value your dignity you should really exKusi yourself from the business. Don't walk away, RUN!

Pros

free internet - couple of good people

Cons

The tech side of the company has lost its way. Politics and looking good have taken front stage. The Over the Wire team came with some great get-up-and-go and great technical leadership. Although recently, there seems to be some really poor decision making and a great leader was removed in the most unprofessional manner. Over what seems like the new Chief Infra Officer feeling threatened ?!?! The leadership in tech is in shambles. Cloud has no direction and seems to be waiting for all its clients to just leave. Platform and systems get no support and don't know which way is up. The network team is now lost. The main leader just talks in senseless terms and psychobabble.
