      Solid company but not an ideal place for progression as an engineer

      Pros

      Good work-life balance. Direct team members were genuinely nice people to work with. Had a chance to work with some interesting tech.

      Cons

      You will have solid performing colleagues but if you want to consistently work with high achievers then this wouldn't be the company for you. Projects move extremely slowly at times. The company miscalculated how much risk it was taking by trying to use blockchain to replace CHESS. They did not plan for a scenario where the blockchain technology did not meet business requirements, and now the company has reversed direction to become very risk averse and focused on reducing costs as much as possible. Jobs at ASX may not be as secure as they once were.

      Pluses and minuses

      Pros

      If you get on good projects and do good work you can attain reasonable bonus outcomes and career progression. Also it's a fun place to work generally with lots of social club activities.

      Cons

      Process-heavy and project management rather than product management focused. Heavy regulation creates heavy process and a fear of technical change. Also some staff are dead wood and will die there.
