I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Amazon (Cairo, Cairo Governorate) in Sep 2025
Interview
The process was the standard Amazon process. Everything was clear from the get-go and the interviewers were nice and thorough with their questions.
Recruiters were always willing to help and answer questions.

Interview
The interview process for a Software Development Engineer II (SDE II) role at Amazon typically consists of three main stages:
HR Screening
The process begins with an initial conversation with a recruiter. This discussion focuses on your background, experience, and overall fit for the role. You may also go over basic behavioral questions aligned with Amazon’s Leadership Principles, along with details about the team and position.
Online Assessment (OA)
Candidates who pass the initial screening are invited to complete an online assessment. This stage generally includes:
Data structures and algorithms coding problems
Logical reasoning or work simulation tasks (in some cases)
Basic system design or debugging questions (role-dependent)
The goal is to evaluate problem-solving skills, coding ability, and efficiency.
Technical Interview (Live Coding)
The final stage involves one or more live technical interviews. These are typically conducted via an online coding platform and may include:
Solving algorithmic problems in real time
Explaining your thought process clearly
Writing clean, efficient, and correct code
Answering follow-up questions and optimizing your solution
I applied online. I interviewed at Amazon (Vancouver, BC) in Nov 2025
Interview
I talked to a recruiter to do a resume screen, then did a Leetcode style tech interview, followed by another interview with a recruiter. From there I was supposed to do two in-person interviews, but everyone I was talking to suddenly didn't respond to any messages. A few weeks later I got an email from Amazon saying the role I was applying for no longer existed.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They gave me an example project and asked a series of questions rating various strategies I would use for a given change to the project (e.g. what type of database would you want to use for a messaging app).
