Procurement Officer
Mackay Regional is looking for a Procurement Officer to join our team.
As a valued member of our Procurement team, you’ll play a key role in delivering value-for-money outcomes across Council by providing specialist advice, supporting procurement activities, and building strong relationships with stakeholders and suppliers.
Reporting to the Procurement Operations Supervisor, you’ll ensure day-to-day procurement operations are efficient, compliant, and aligned with Council policies and legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide procurement advice and guidance to Council staff
- Process purchase requisitions in line with procurement policies
- Maintain accurate records, contract coding and documentation
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships
- Support supplier onboarding and compliance checks
- Assist with procurement data analysis and reporting
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify procurement solutions
- Monitor outstanding orders and ensure timely processing
- Liaise with Accounts Payable to ensure accurate and timely payments
- Contribute to continuous improvement and best practice procurement
About You
Essential
- Willingness to undertake a Criminal History Check
- Experience using procurement systems (e.g. SAP, Finance One, CiAnywhere)
- Experience in procurement operations within government, private or multi-industry environments
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to manage sensitive matters professionally
- Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
- Analytical skills with the ability to interpret data
- Sound knowledge of procurement practices and relevant Queensland/local government legislation
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel
Desirable
- Certificate IV in Purchasing or relevant procurement qualification
